Tasteful Nude Maternity Photography

Nude Maternity Photoshoots

I occasionally do nude poses in my maternity photoshoots. Take a look at some of the guidelines and specifics of how I conduct these photoshoots and what you can expect if you ask for these types of images in your session.

What Is Nude Maternity Photography?

Nude maternity photoshoots consist of tasteful photographs of pregnant women with their modesty covered up with their hands or a flowy piece of material.

Please note that I don’t do nude-only maternity photo sessions. However, I will incorporate nude poses into maternity shoots if they are specifically requested.

Naked Maternity Poses

If you do decide to request naked maternity poses in your session with me, I recommend familiarizing yourself with the poses.

Take a look at the list of different types of poses I do in my maternity photoshoots:

Standing up - the subject typically covers their breasts with their hands, both from the front and from the side

Standing up with silhouette - the same as the standing up pose, but this one incorporates the use of strobe lighting to create a silhouette of the subject’s figure

Halo - makes use of a rim light to create a kind of halo around the subject

Sitting down - the subject sits on a stool or a wooden box

Lying down - the subject lies back or lies on their side, depending on preference, with a reflection in the shot

I make use of sheer fabrics or silky fabrics to strategically cover certain areas of the subject’s body and/or alter the look of the pose (can use different colors of fabric)

Cropped - a cropped-in or close-up shot of just the belly

My above-mentioned poses are more or less the route I will take with a nude maternity shoot client, depending on the client’s preferences and comfort level. If a client is not comfortable with being completely naked during the session, I often recommend wearing skin-toned underwear.

These garments can be hidden by shooting the subject from different angles and using fabric to strategically hide clothing that you don’t want to appear in the final photo product.

At the end of the day, I aim to make sure that my clients are comfortable prior to a shoot and aware of how the session will go. It is ultimately up to the client to decide whether or not they desire any nude maternity shots in the session.

If you choose to incorporate nude photographs in your maternity photoshoot, I can adapt the poses and style of the shot accordingly.

Make sure to review my posing options before you book a session to get an idea of what the photo session will be like.
