Studio Maternity Photography

Making you look like a Goddess for your Maternity photography session is my priority. It’s an important time in your life and you will want to capture it looking your best.

This is what I do.

Although, there are a few things you can do that will help make your session a complete success.

Maternity Session Preparation

Preparing for your studio maternity photography session is part of the fun and will help your session run smoothly and be more enjoyable.

Timing Your Photography Session

The best time to schedule your  photoshoot is when you are between 28 and 36 weeks pregnant to ensure you have a large baby bump.

However, being flexible with the date for the session is important.

Hair, Makeup, and Pampering

There's nothing like a bit of pampering to make you feel on top of the world. If you would like your hair and makeup done for you I can recommend a qualified make up artist to do this.

Having a manicure and pedicure beforehand is also something a lot of my previous clients have done, so that would be something to consider. Plus, making sure to shave your legs and moisturize your body (especially the bump) is a must.

Drinking lots of water for a few days before your maternity session will also help your skin be at its best.

Staying Comfy During your Photoshoot

Pregnancy can be tiring for you, especially around your third trimester. So, I will always do my best to keep you comfortable throughout your session by taking regular breaks. My studio has a seating area with a couch, giving you space and time to rest. My studio has a bathroom where you can change with privacy. I also have snacks and lots of bottled water to hand.

What Should You Wear?

I have a variety of maternity gowns to choose from, you can see some of them here. While you can wear your own clothes, selecting from my collection gives your session a unique look and differentiates it from standard portrait shoots.

Your partner should wear subtle clothing, so they don't outshine you and your bump. However, I recommend requesting partners bring a change of shirts (without large logos) to help coordinate with the dresses and to introduce some variation.

Can I Include Siblings Or Pets

Yes you certainly can bring your other children, Although young children do get tired very quickly and stop cooperating at inopportune moments. So, I usually get the shots with the baby's siblings done first.

I do provide snacks for kids and I have a few toys to keep them entertained for the rest of the session.

You can also include your pets (dogs, typically) as long as you can trust it to be well behaved. Ideally, if you can arrange to have your pet dropped off nearer the end of the session and I can take these photographs last. Doing it this way usually is the most successful approach.

Maternity Photoshoot Poses

You can look at my Maternity portfolio and decide if there is a specific pose you would want to recreate. Other than that you don’t have to worry about anything, just enjoy the session.
